Manganese
The high demand for manganese ore is closely tied to steel production, including large-scale iron industries and the manufacturing of ferroalloys and silicoalloys. Manganese compounds have many industrial uses. Manganese dioxide serves as a drying agent, a catalyst in paints and varnishes, a decolorizer in glassmaking, and is used in dry batteries. Potassium permanganate is used for bleaching, decolorizing oils, and as an oxidizing agent in analytical chemistry. Manganese is also used in fertilizers and animal feed.
Manganese is used in:
- Steel production: Improves strength and corrosion resistance.
- Batteries: An essential component in battery manufacturing.
- Chemical industry: Utilized in producing specific chemical compounds.
